Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large area that extends from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently referred to as her birthplace. It is true that she was there for a brief period of time. Brugel lived in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She wanted to become professional, however due to an explosive growth spurt she outgrew every dance partner she met. In an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I was bigger than any male partner, I stopped. Some former dancers switch to acting and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher recommended that she audition for an annual school production. She was chosen to play the lead character in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Through the years that followed, Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the part in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel played the role of Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was filming over 10 years ago.
